The char koay teow is located in Viva Local Food Haven @ Tanjong Tokong. If you're heading towards Batu Ferringi, the food court is located on your right side. Rest assured, it's easy to find as it's situated just beside the main road.
Signage in front of the stall |
No crowds seen...but in reality, really cooking non-stop |
Hard to get both the boss and his wife together in a photo because his wife was delivering food to customers all the time. |
Extra special - RM7 (actually RM6.50 but if want to add egg must add another RM0.50. OMG, RM6.50 and still no egg included???) |
What's in extra special? 5 big prawns, lap cheong (sliced Chinese sausage), si ham (cockles/ kerang), egg, taugeh and noodles |
Ingredients: prawns, sliced Chinese sausage, cockles, spring onions, eggs |
Secret sauces; oil+lards (yay!), soya sauce and chili (how come my ckt not spicy, aii!) |
Now, for the finale. 'How to cook Penang char koay teow?' in videos! I recorded 2 videos (watch below). Also, you can hear in the second video, a boss from the nearby stall selling hokkien mee asking me to do a write-up about his stall. Hm, next time maybe, if Ju says the hokkien mee is nice, hehe

Viva Food Court.
Lot 303, Jalan Tanjung Tokong.
10470 Penang
Tips:
1. I think the portion of noodles are the same for both small and large plate. The different is just the number of big prawns. Even other 'liews' like cockles and slices of Chinese sausage were of the same amount. So, no point ordering big if you're not a fan of prawns.
Tasty Or Not?
Rating: 7.5/10. Nice Penang char koay teow with lots of 'liews' (prawns, cockles, egg, Chinese sausage)...but prepare to pay dearly for that.
