Isn't it awesome to be able to eat my breakfast here overlooking the floating mosque? Imagine filling up both my mind with serenity and my stomach with roti canai at the same time. Great, huh?! Hehehe.

Green House Prawn Mee & Loh Mee @ Burma Road, Georgetown, Penang: Is Their Prawn Mee Nice For Supper?

Where do you go when you're hungry at night and longed for a bowl of prawn mee a.k.a hokkien mee in Georgetown, Penang?

Green House Prawn Mee & Loh Mee. I seldom see people use the tern prawn mee in Penang because it's more commonly called Hokkien mee. Hm...maybe the boss is not Hokkien?

Subway Breakfast Promotion: SUB-standard?!!

I recently went to Subway @ E-Gate, Penang to try out their new breakfast promotion.

Please don't be shock!
Subway prides itself for serving the freshest food made before your very eyes and following your own choice of ingredients too. So, how can their food be substandard??? Calm down.

Fried Rice King @ Wah Li Fried Rice And Coffee Shop, Sungai Dua, Penang: Famous, Cheap, Fast And Delicious Pai Kut Ong Fried Rice!

This was my second time driving all the way from Georgetown to Sungai Dua for dinner after N recommended to me this food stall called Fried Rice King. Must be good, right? It better be good! From what N was telling me, it sounded great but...you know, Indians always love Chinese food, and vice versa. So, I knew I have to taste the food myself and not to take his words for granted. (You can read about his previous food recommendation to me here: Nasi Kandar SUBAIDAH, Sungai Dua, Penang: The Wait...Till 10.30pm)

Suffolk House Restaurant, Penang (Part 1): A Romantic Place For Fine Dining But I Ended Up Having Evening Buffet

Suffolk House. Winner of the Award of Distinction in the 2008 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation
Firstly, let me introduce to you this place called Suffolk House, which served as Francis Light's (founder of the British colony of Penang) resident until his death in 1794. It's the earliest Anglo-Indian garden house built within a pepper estate and now served as one of the most important colonial heritage landmark in Penang. This house changed owners multiple times and served many purposes since then. It was used to be British Governor's mansion, Japanese base during occupation and Methodist Boys' School before this house was restored to it's current form.

Qbean @ Queensbay Mall, Penang: Soy Ice-Cream, Something New!

There's a new fast food/ fast drink/ fast ice-cream chain in town. I think it deserves mentioned here because I find the whole idea of the business so simple yet so 'why-I-didn't-think-of -it?'. All the food and drinks here revolved around one single main ingredient, soya bean.

Soya bean drinks and it's common alter ego, 'taufufah' is much loved among Malaysians (Read: TauFuFah & Soya Bean @ Funny Mountain, Jalan Theater, Ipoh, Perak: Natural And Cheap SK II?). Qbean went one step further by making ice-cream from soya beans. How? The workers there claimed that the ice-cream is made purely from soya beans itself and not just the flavoring only...but I had my doubt.

Anyway, I gave it a try...

Qbean menu. SOY ICE-CREAM RM2.50 (cone/ cup), SOY DRINKS plus toppings (pearl/ cincau/ chocolate qjelly/ yum qjelly/ custard qjelly) plus green tea/ chocolate/ bandung/ ginger/ almond (RM3.90/ RM4.90 for ice blended), taufufah (RM3.00/ RM3.80 plus ginger), pancakes and fresh fruits plus soya. BTW, don't the Qbean logo looks like a condom? Haha

Ghani Pasembur @ Padang Brown Food Court, Jalan Anson, Penang: Best Pasembur In Penang, But I Don't Like...

There are a few types of 'rojak' (mix) available in Malaysia. For Chinese, there's fruit rojak (fruit mix plus thick dressing made up of shrimp paste, chili, lime juice and sugar) and for Indian, their rojak is a mixture of noodles, eggs, potatoes and prawn fritters. However, our Indian-Muslim brethren, more popularly known as Mamak, are a little more creative with more add-ons such as cuttlefish, fish balls, sausages and also the usual eggs, potatoes and prawn fritters but minus the noodles (who needs noodle anyway, right?!). All these ingredients are mixed with a thick but slightly spicy peanut sauce.

Mamak's rojak is known as 'pasembur' in Penang. To be honest, I'm not a fan of pasembur but among all the pasembur that I'd eaten, my favorite pasembur is located in Padang Brown Food Court @ Jalan Anson. Once you're in the food court, Ghani Pasembur stall is hard to miss because it's brightly lit and they're many different types of foods displayed in front of his stall.

Ghani Penang Famous Pasembur, brightly lit. Many different kinds of 'delicacies' are stacked in front of the stall for you to choose and mix. Really spoilt for choice here. I want this, I want that but my plate...and most importantly, my stomach size remain the same, haha.

Penang Famous Teochew Chendul @ Lebuh Keng Kwee, Georgetown, Penang: Authentic, Delicious And Best Chendul In Penang!!!

Under the scorching sun in Malaysia, consider yourself lucky if you're in Penang, whether you're staying in Penang, working in Penang or just coming to Penang for a visit (wise choice!). There's this small stall located along Lebuh Keng Kwee (a small alley on the left when nearing the end of Penang Road), which sells one of the best chendul/ cendol and ABC (ais batu campur) in Penang.
Both the boss and his wife preparing chendul and ice kacang. You can expect long queues throughout the day. Amongst the more popular visitors to this small yet popular stall are the casts from Phua Chu Kang comedy series, Gurmit Singh and Tan Kheng Hua (see the photo above the stall).

Lorong Selamat Char Koay Teow, Georgetown, Penang: Premium Penang Char Koay Teow, Both In Price And Taste!

Kafe Heng Huat @ Lorong Selamat, Georgetown, Penang
Your visit to Penang won't be complete if you haven't taste a plate of the famous Penang char koay teow. Actually, there are many char koay teow stalls peppered all around Penang (most are nice, if not great to eat also) but to find the most famous, most controversial and most expensive Penang char koay teow, go to Kafe Heng Huat @ Lorong Selamat, Georgetown, Penang. There are a few char koay teow stalls along this road but look for the Penang char koay teow stall that's operated by two sisters (see photo below).

The 'Sisters' in action. Which is the 'mean' one? Hehe. FYI, both were very courteous when I order my char koay teow, when I pay and when I asked for permission to take photos. :)
