Ipoh famous 'Police Station Curry Mee' gets even more famous after recent radio advertisement (you may have heard it if you're tuning to English radio stations).

Both the boss and her son, a bit camera-shy at the begining:) |
I went there for breakfast this morning with J, ordered 2 bowls of curry bihun-mee and a
separate serving of mixed 'liews' (char siew, siew yuk, 3 layered pork, prawns, chicken and taugeh all in one bowl, like eating a mini 'poon choy', yay!). If you don't ask for separate 'liews', then they'll put it altogether with your curry mee (not recommended, less fulfilling).
|
Slowly, I think the boss started to warm up with my presence. |
Why is it so famous? The curry taste nice and light, not too spicy and strangely, smells fragrant. Must eat together with their special, secret chili sauce that comes along
only if you order the 'liews' separately.

How much for breakfast for two? RM18, a little steep in pricing but with it comes along your right to brag in front of your friend that you'd try one of the most famous food in Ipoh.
|
Think the price increased recently, but still worth it, IMHO |
It's located at Jalan Sultan Iskandar Shah (the road to Ipoh oldtown). After passing the police station on your right, it's located on the left after passing the traffic lights.

Ipoh, Perak
Tips:
1. To beat the long waiting time, the best time to reach there is before 8.30am (waiting time for the food is about 30minutes). After 8.30am, you'll have to wait a least an hour (or longer, plus no place to sit) for your food. Bring someone along or something to do there and time will pass faster. Most of the time, there are more people waiting than those eating, hehe.
2. Never order 'dry' curry noodle here. It's lousy.
3. Always order the 'liews' separately.
Tasty or not?
Yup! Rating 9/10 (must try in Ipoh!!)
