Yik Mun: The Famous Tanjung Malim Pau @ Tanjung Malim, Perak: Best HALAL Pau!

If you're like me who uses the trunk road instead of PLUS highway (to find hidden good foods, plus get to save $$$), then whenever you pass by Tanjung Malim, you'll come across Yik Mun restaurant on your left at the main intersection while heading toward Kuala Lumpur (or on your right if you're heading toward Ipoh).

I recommend that you stop by and try this famous pau/ Chinese bun shop. FYI, all the foods here are halal, meaning safe for consumption by Muslims. There are 4 types of pau(s); chicken curry pau, beef curry pau, kaya pau and kacang pau. Yik Mun's pau(s) are famous for their soft outer bun and delicious, packed and original fillings.

Takeaway in frozen pack. Steam it back and it'll taste just as good.

My favorite will be chicken curry pau (RM1.60) and also the kaya pau (RM1.30).You'll be surprise to see few columns of empty tray stacking higher than me by evening, indicating the massive amount of pau(s) that they sell everyday.

Yik Mun's pau(s) come in 4 types: chicken curry, beef curry, kaya and kacang.

If you're like me rushing to other places, worry not. You can still purchase the pau in frozen pack (come in 6 pau(s)/pack). It just take about 10 minutes steaming and the pau(s) will be readied and taste as good as eating at Yik Mun restaurant itself. This restaurant also serve some nice Chinese and Western foods but the famous pau(s) popularity tend to outshine other foods, aii.

After removing the outer thin protective skin, the pau skin is soft and

Halfway through my curry chicken pau; the fillings are dense (because the minced chicken is thoroughly mixed with the curry, plus the absence of potatoes), not oily, adequate and deliciously addictive.
Nearing the end. A little disappointed because the filling becoming more patchy (human error, maybe?)
