[HALAL] Sifu Omar's Hokkien Mee and Koay Teow Th'ng @ Tanjung Tokong Food Court, Penang: Taste The Same, If Not Better, Than Chinese Stalls

I often wonder if there's any ways for my Malay friends to try out some delicious Chinese food because the tastes are so different. Besides, Penang is well known for food, particularly Chinese foods. Unfortunately, I couldn't bring my friends to eat all these nice foods because it's not halal (not permissible/ forbidden foods in Islam), sigh!

Koay teow th'ng on your left and Hokkien mee on your right. HALAL! Where to find this stall?

Thanks to Ju (my good friend), I finally found a Malay stall selling Hokkien mee and koay teow th'ng that tasted just as good as the ones sold by those famous and established Chinese stalls, no joke!

Sifu Omar's stall is at the Tanjong Tokong food court. It's the only stall that open in the afternoon (other stalls open from evening onwards)
Sifu Omar in action, with his assistance at the back.

What's Sifu Omar's secrets to a make a delicious bowl of Hokkien mee or koay teow th'ng?
Putting in a lot of ingredients?
Special broth?
Extra noodles?
All the above?

Does the secrets lies in here?

Hmm, partly right. I was wondering too how his Hokkien mee and koay teow th'ng can taste so similar like I ate at Chinese food stalls. Until I found out the main reason, I think. His wife is...Chinese! Now I know!

Hokkien mee (RM4.00). The soup tasted (before I mix with the chili paste) magnificently sweet and full with seafood flavor, the chili spicy and nobody makes chili better than Malays (IMHO) and the noodle and ingredients (small prawns, meat, egg) were adequate.
Close up photo of the ingredients, fresh and flavorful.
Chicken meat, prawn, crabstick, sotong, egg; all in small pieces. You'll definitely scoop those ingredients up every time!
Another photo, all mixed already.
Koay teow th'ng (RM4.00). Honestly, I don't know why he gave me the duck neck (maybe I arrived there late) ! It's so gross. The soup broth flavor was intense with duck essence and not the slightest artificial flavoring in it.

Another spoonful of ingredients; generous amount of duck meat and fishball together with the koay teow noodles. The duck meat still retain the taste and not like those flavor-less duck meat after used to prepare the soup.

Another closer view of the koay teow th'ng

Tips:
Eat both!

Tasty Or Not?
Ratings: 8/10 for Hokkien mee and 7.5/10 for koay teow th'ng. If you're Malay and you want to know how great Chinese food taste like, just to go Sifu Omar's stall and try out both Hokkien mee and koay teow th'ng. If you're non-Malay, give it a try!
