Kastury Fried Chicken @ Tapah, Perak: Better Than KFC? Myth Or Fact?

Post dinner at Tanjong Malim (claypot rice, plus choy sum fa), I headed to Tapah for supper @ Kastury Fried Chicken, Tapah, Perak. Actually, there's also another famous fried chicken at Bidor (beside the bus station) but I arrived late at Bidor around 9.30 pm and it was closed already.

Famous fried chicken in Tapah, rivalling even KFC at price...but not taste.

This stall is really famous among people in Tapah and it's surrounding areas. Mention fried chicken and people will talk about this stall and not the nearby KFC! At least, that's why my staffs told me last time when I was working in Felda Trolak Selatan.

Awaiting new batches of fried chicken as the previous batches already sold out. I ordered iced lemon tea and watched TV while waiting. You can see the Shell petrol station at the background.
Where's Kastury Fried Chicken? If you're coming in from the PLUS highway and heading toward Tapah town, Kastury fried chicken is located on your left once you see the Shell petrol station on your right (opposite Shell petrol station). Besides fried chicken, there's also nasi lemak bungkus (prepacked) but was sold out when I arrived. It's just a simple nasi lemak, nothing special actually.

Finally, the new batch of fried chicken out from the wok. Not too oily, golden brown in color.
I ordered 2 drumsticks (RM2/piece) and 1 chicken wing (RM1.60/piece), plus 1 iced lemon tea. I had to wait about 15 minutes because the fried chickens was still bathing in hot oil at that time:)

2 drumsticks and 1 chicken wings. The drumsticks and chicken wing were full sized unlike to mini tiny drumsticks in KFC. Nicely fried to golden brown color and not oily.
Another view of the fried chicken. Actually a little charred on the hidden side but otherwise nicely fried.
Close up view  on the drumsticks. Fleshy, thin, crispy skin. However, at the most important aspect of all, the taste, they faltered. Not enough/ too light marinating and flavoring causing the chicken to have just minimal taste, if any. Perhaps I did acquired more advance taste of fried chicken after eating Penang belachan fried chicken?

Chili sauce, my savior because my fried chicken tasted...I don't know (unable to describe because no taste)
Conclusion, Kastury Fried Chicken as nice as KFC/ McDonald?
Myth or fact? Try it out yourself when you passed by Tapah, Perak next time.

Kastury Fried Chicken,
Tapah
(just opposite Shell petrol station)

Tips:
Try Bidor fried chicken instead, 15-20 minutes drive only to reach there from Tapah.

Tasty Or Not?
Rating 5/10; mediocre fried chicken.
