I Want To Be The Bigger Loser! What?!

Yummy! :)
Sound weird, right? Actually, it was a healthy bet I made with my friend, N today to see who get to lose 7kgs first by May 2011. (Indications: ballooning weight+shape and my LDL upward trajectory from 2.4 to 2.9 and now 3.7)

My current weight: 80kgs (target 73kgs)
N's current weight: 76kgs (target 69kgs)

Whoever reach the target weight soonest will win.

Bye bye to my favorite junk food; ChaCheer kuaci and Wise potato chips

Prize?

Sin Wah Char Koay Teow @ Pulau Tikus Market: Seafood Galore @ Sin Wah CKT

Have you read my posting on the 'Secrets Of Great Penang Char Koay Teow, Unveiled!'?

Mee Sua Kor @ KMM Success, Air Itam, Penang: Famous And Best Mee Sua Kor Found!

At this moment, I'd say the best mee sua kor (vermicelli soup) that I'd tasted so far is found at Kedai Makanan Dan Minuman Success, along Jalan Air Itam @ Air Itam. To reach this place, drive heading to Air Itam and this stall is located on your left, just beside Maybank. It opens from 5pm onwards and offer varieties of noodles such as mee suo kor, tang hoon, oyster mee and a few more.

Located on your left heading to Air Itam, just beside Maybank, easy to find.

Waka Japanese Restaurant @ Bayview, Penang: Most Disappointing Japanese Buffet!

Well, I'm rather disappointed at the moment after my Japanese buffet dinner at Waka Japanese Restaurant (WJR) @ City Bayview Hotel, Penang. Perhaps, I was having high hopes for great Japanese foods there. My colleague recommended this place to me a few weeks ago, highlighting their large oysters.

I'd planned to eat at WJR since early this week (think I'm take my eating too seriously nowadays, planning so ahead of time). I must admit I'm not a fan of buffet as it's just silly to eat in large quantities to justify the amount we're paying. However, I always end up 'trying' buffets and then regretting eating it post-buffet. My buffet dinner at WJR was no different, aii.

To cut my nagging short, I'd put my comments and descriptions at the photos that I took when I went eating (NOT stuffing) at WJR yesterday.

Waka Japanese Restaurant entrance. I actually called to make a reservation for myself but it was not necessary. The buffet dinner is only on Friday, 6.30pm - 10pm. Fewer than 10 people (actually 7, including me) were eating here yesterday.

Noodles And Yong Liew @ Lam Kee, Kampar: After Long Wait, Long Queue...

Another frequent stop when I commute between Ipoh and my previous workplace at Trolak Selatan is Kampar town. There are a few nice food places if you know where to find it and I'm fortunate to know someone from Kampar to guide me on my food trail here.

This lady boss was busy since opening at 2.30pm

Yik Mun: The Famous Tanjung Malim Pau @ Tanjung Malim, Perak: Best HALAL Pau!

If you're like me who uses the trunk road instead of PLUS highway (to find hidden good foods, plus get to save $$$), then whenever you pass by Tanjung Malim, you'll come across Yik Mun restaurant on your left at the main intersection while heading toward Kuala Lumpur (or on your right if you're heading toward Ipoh).

Curry Laksa @ Restoran Asia, Seremban: The Best Curry Laksa In Seremban, Trust Me! (Must Eat When In/ Passing/ Near Seremban!)

I'd been eating at Asia Laksa (as I fondly called) since I started eating spicy foods, which was many, many years ago. I used to frequent this place so often until the lady boss even know what's my order as soon as I stepped into her shop, but that was last time.

Laksa in Seremban is different from Penang because it's more of curry with santan (coconut milk) base.

In Asia Laksa, you order by telling the lady boss what noodle/ combination of noodles that you want; bihun/ vermicelli, lao shu fen or yellow noodle. The next step is to tell her what 'liews'/ ingredients you want or don't want to be put into your curry laksa. Liews/ ingredients available are such as curry chicken, taufupok, char siew, hard boiled egg (half), 'si ham'/ cockles, taugeh (beansprouts).

What makes Asia Laksa's curry laksa so special and 'must eat' in Seremban?
  • The curry soup is excellent and you can request the curry to be more spicy or less spicy (the lady boss will adjust by putting less curry soup and mix with more normal soup). The curry soup is fragrant, not greasy at all and excitingly spicy (if you choose for the more spicy curry soup).

Curry laksa. Seen here is taufupoks, slices of lean char siew and chili paste, plus the flavorful and non greasy curry soup

Kastury Fried Chicken @ Tapah, Perak: Better Than KFC? Myth Or Fact?

Post dinner at Tanjong Malim (claypot rice, plus choy sum fa), I headed to Tapah for supper @ Kastury Fried Chicken, Tapah, Perak. Actually, there's also another famous fried chicken at Bidor (beside the bus station) but I arrived late at Bidor around 9.30 pm and it was closed already.

Famous fried chicken in Tapah, rivalling even KFC at price...but not taste.

Claypot Rice @ Jalan Loke Yew, Tanjung Malim: Worth Stopping By This Small Town Everytime

After I delivered dinner (Shihlin Taiwan bento box set, plus soya bean drink) to J @ Sungai Buloh hospital, I continued my journey back to Ipoh.  I'll always stopped at Tanjung Malim for dinner if I happened to be there around evening or night time.

Majority of people staying at Tanjung Malim are Malays, especially since UPSI and Proton factory are located here. I used to work at Felda Trolak Selatan and Tanjung Malim is the nearest town with KFC, Pizza Hut or Secret Recipi. Not many people knew but there are some nice Chinese foods here too and it's situated at 'old' Tanjung Malim town, along Jalan Loke Yew. My favorite food along this road is the claypot rice, operated by a couple and opened from evening (about 6pm) till night (around 10pm).

I'll usually order one small claypot rice (RM6) and a plate of choy sum fa (Chinese flower cabbage, just RM3 only!), very fulfilling dinner for just under RM10.

I love to eat at Secret Recipi.

In fact, I just ate there 2 days ago with my parents @ Secret Recipi, Senawang. I came across this promotion, 'Valentine's Special' and ordered one set plus one lamb shank.

Sorry, I'd forgotten to take photo of all the delicious foods but that's not important here. Actually, just want to remind our Muslim friends NOT to order this set below or you'll be in deep trouble. Muslims can of course order other dishes available at Secret Recipi.

Kizuna Japanese Restaurant, Jalan Medan Ipoh 1B, Ipoh, Perak: Best In Ipoh, Taiping And Some Say Whole Perak?

Well, I got to keep this entry short, compact and raw (pun intended) because I’d got too many materials to write and too little time to do so. I was back in Ipoh for a few days to pack my stuffs before going home to Seremban.

Luckily, I managed to visit some very famous eateries in Ipoh, which I intend to blog on later. Please wait a little bit longer for my ‘World Famous Ipoh Food’ series, hehe.

Kizuna Japanese Restaurant. Photo taken during closing time. Otherwise, all the parking lots will be taken. Not to worry because there’s a huge parking space at the side of the restaurant, just for Kizuna customers
